About the HRBP Lab
I'm Josh Wise, and I've spent years in my career as an HR business partner. I'm the person leaders pull aside when the org chart stops matching reality, when a team is straining, when a change has to land without breaking the people inside it.
The HRBP Lab is where I work that out in the open, now that AI is sitting on the desk next to me.
Here's the belief the whole thing runs on: the best HR practitioners are becoming builders. Not coders. Builders. People who stop waiting for a tool to be handed down and start making their own. Most of HR is still split between fear ("AI is coming for us") and dismissal ("that's for the tech team"). Neither camp is actually using any of it. The practitioners who'll matter most over the next decade are the ones who just start — messy, imperfect, and real.
I'm not writing from the outside as a futurist. I'm one step ahead on the same path you're on, showing you my screen. Here's what I built. Here's how it works. Here's where it broke.
What you'll find here
Two kinds of writing, mostly. Process pieces: here's what I did, step by step, with the actual prompts and where they fell over. And perspective pieces: here's what I think is changing about the work, and why it matters for how you do your job.
A new issue goes out most Saturdays. Shorter notes, which I call pulses, show up in between when something's worth sharing right away.
Who it's for
HRBPs, people leaders, and anyone in HR who'd rather build something than read another think-piece about disruption. You don't need to be technical. You need to be curious enough to open the tool and try.
Subscribe, it's free
Sign up and every new issue lands in your inbox, along with the full archive of everything that came before. No cost, no sales pitch, no "only 3 spots left." If a piece helps you do the work better, it's done its job.
